Got that on today. Doesn't stay on. Only when I start it. Sup with that? I know how to clear it but don't know why it is on.

First it starts blinking then it will come on solid and stay on. It keeps track of the mileage and tells you when it's time to change the oil. After the oil change is done, you reset the system so it starts counting from 0 again. Not sure exactly what the interval is, somewhere around 4,500 or 5,000 miles

Don’t forget to check the muffler bearings. May need lube.

I guess the old dude I bought it from failed to do that cause the sticker on my windshield says I still have about 800 miles left before the next oil change. This will be my first time to have the oil changes since I bought it.

Long ago, I knew an old southern mechanic who blamed blinker fluid and muffler bearings for everything. 25+ years later I still think about that. :)

It’s just letting you know it’s getting close to the time it should be changed.

Back when I was young and worked at a shoe store, when we would hire new employees, we would start them out in the warehouse putting up shoes on the shelves. When they would come to us saying they could not get all the boxes on a particular shelf we would send them to other shoe stores in the mall to get a "Shelf Stretcher". ahem....It was funny at the time

Sticker reccomended intervals don't always match the odo interval.

When we get younger newbie tech in the shop, a common prank is to tell him that the EPA is going stop by and they're going to need a "shop air sample" to take back to the lab for testing.

He'll close the bay doors and then we watch with glee while he runs around with a 50 gallon trash bag trying to capture air and tie the bag off

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
Resetting the light is easy. Turn your key to on but don't start truck. Push mileage button on odometer until Trip A or Trip B is showing. Turn key off. Push the same button and hold it down while you turn key on. You will see a bunch of dashes instead of numbers on the ODO that will blink and reduce by one each flash. When they are all gone the ODO will show a bunch of zeros. Let go of the button and shake your hand a little because pushing that pointy button with your fingertip that long hurts a little.
