NEW TACOMA IN COLOMBIA SOUTH AMERICA

In the past week , I have seen two New Toyota Tacomas on the road here in Colombia. Both were 4x4 dcsb, with V6 engines. Both trucks had Colombia license plates issued in Bogota. They must have been sold by a new car dealer here, because Colombian law prohibits individuals from importing any vehicles less than 20 years old. Only the Hilux has been sold here before, and its styling is drab compared to the Tacoma. If they really are available here, they will capture almost all of the new truck sales because they look fantastic compared to any of the other trucks offered for sale in Colombia. Maybe this is Toyota's answer to the new Ford Ranger which debuted here last year and is selling like hotcakes. One of the Tacomas I saw had TRD OFF ROAD badges, and looked to be lifted and was running what appeared to be 35" tires. I tried to get a picture, but he exited the autopista before I could. The only downside I can see for the Tacoma here is that the D4D diesel may be not available. Diesels are very popular here, and in most makes, a diesel (or turbo diesel) is the only engine available.

I have always loved Toyota trucks (I've owned 5) and if the Tacoma is going to be sold here, I will be standing in line to buy one.
