Interior door handles.

So the little plastic piece that holds the rod in place, broke . And the resulting fall caused the feet on the handel to break.
I've found replacement ones on Ebay and Amazon but the colors look off . Even the "OEM " one looks way darker.
Dose anyone have a good lead on were to get one or has anyone use the Ebay or Amazon ones know if they work well?

A trip to the scrap yard may yield results as you can find them on some old toyota cars too, like 1990s tercels and corollas. Third gen 4runners too (1996-2002). Also have seen them in 1990s toyota pickups (pre-tacomas)

 

Somebody on here posted where chrome handles from a Camry will work. If you have a good salvage yard and can't find a matching color, there might be some chromes that also work.

 

I didn't know that there were chrome Interior door handles. That would be cool. I'm already rocking the chrome exterior handles .I think that there stronger.

Well hell . I'll have to remember that. I ordered the Ebay one. The chrome would be cool if it was just the handle.

 

I have one of the fleabay handles on the shelf. Bought it cause I cracked part of my oem one by stupidly trying to force it in place with a screwdriver. Its still totally functional, and since the ebay one is so far off in color I wont install it. Also, I cant figure out how to get the rod out of the old one without breaking it.

Junkyard would be your best bet for finding a stock one.

 

Went to the bone yard yesterday and pulled a passenger side outside handle off of a 91 pickup. It was a PITA to get it off. Is there a video on here that shows an easy way on how to put them in without doing damage to them?

 

The Amazon chrome ones are or look like it's all plastic. The older Camry handles where metal. That's what I did to mine. You can't use the surround piece because it doesn't sit flush with the door panel. I mean you can use it cause it does fit but there will be a gap between the surround and panel. I think the surrounds work from older Rav4's.

 

It's not really documented, but I'm pretty sure they slightly changed the interior colors at least once. The tan interior parts from 01-04 are slightly darker than my 2000 taco. When looking at interior parts the numbers usually change in 01 for the same part/color, while the pre 01 parts are usually labeled as discontinued.

I also tried an eBay door handle — the color was WAY off and it basically exploded. Total garbage.

Yeah I think there's zero chance of an eBay handle matching the OEM color. I did some more research, and while there's very little information out there, I think the earlier handles are the darker color. However, I got an OEM handle from the dealer which was supposed to match my year, and it's the darker one. This interior stuff is a pain.
