Looks like Tacoma Beast only Has black ones left when I was gonna go with chrome since the Chrome/Smoked CCFLs matched so well with the oem chrome left on my grill.
Is there any quality difference or are you basically paying for the customer service?
    $400 vs $240

I'm not cheap, just BAF,but willing to pay the difference if there is a quality difference IE projector quality or Housing doesn't melt with after market lights.

I thought about upgrading from stock chrome, to blacked out TRD ones. Both OEM. But for the same headlight that just has some internal trim that changes to black, it doesn't seem worth the price.

Is it worth considering another option; modifying the existing headlight somehow?
I don't know if it matters to have separate lights within the housing. Such as a main beam, and high beam separate. To act as a flasher and high beam when needed.

Because in the case of projectors, they take seconds to warm up and change color. So they don't get used for high beams. Halogens do, because they respond quicker. However, on some cars, their xenons are "bi-xenon" which means that when running/already on at night, a cutoff shield flips down via motor, to allow more light to escape from it. Which makes the xenon be sort of a "helper" to the high beam.

The difference lies within LED's, which are known to have a very fast response time. If using LED's, those can probably act in any capacity.
For example, the Acura TLX with it's jewel eye LED headlights. Somehow, that car manages to use those "jewels" to act as both low beam and high beam, or are even able to be flashed from an Off position.

I heard in recent years, Toyota was one of the first to start using an LED projector. Maybe called "Koito" brand or something. I wonder if that can be used.
Folks on the lighting specialist forum HIDplanet probably know more about this stuff.

As opposed to Audi's that used not Koito but Bosch/AL, which I think was a merge of the companies Bosch and AL (Automotive Lighting) or something.

Are the headlights in original post known good performers? I'm just saying man.
Last time I had a style that looked just like that on a different car, and the lighting was pretty bad.

There's nothing special about the ones TB sells. I believe they are Spyder headlights so you are likely will find them cheaper elsewhere. They look good but output nothing special since they are halogens.

They’re rebranded, from the same factory.

    This is what I assumed.
I think the retrofit source has a better projector to put in them that pretty plug and play.

You can get the same lights on ebay/Amazon for much, much cheaper. You won't have to jump through hoops for warranty or even a response like you will with TB

I installed these Spyder Sequential Headlights today. My thoughts are on par with the rest. Really cool “looking” Headlights. I think OEM DRL is brighter than these. Halogens is what it is. Not bad, but not good either. Decent and I can live with it for now. I did see a video of someone switching out the bulb to a cheap LED. Looked way better but he did warn that it would void the warranty. Overall, I like them. I’ll give it a 7 of 10 rating. The Retrofitsource headlights are the real deal. If I could afford them I would be going that route. For now this will suffice.

i emailed TB before with the same questions.. they never gave me a straight answer.. so i would assume that it's the same headlight you can get from Amazon or ebay.

Anyone cracked either of these headlights (Amazon or TB) open to see how the projector is mounted or what projectors they use? Thought about getting these instead of buying the regular depo and doing another projector mod on those. I did a set of projectors in some depos and they served me great but I'm ready for an upgrade to the morimoto mled and really liked the look of these Amazon or TB one .

Has anyone gotten any aftermarket lights that don't end up leaking?

there have been a few recent reports of tacomabeast lights leaking, and many complaints about their horrible customer service. i’d guess it’s the same as the ebay set.

from what i’ve read, depos have the least complaints, but ALL aftermarket lights are more prone to leak more than oem. most aftermarket lights aren’t sealed well at all. if i didn’t live in az and cared about leaks, i’d bake my depos and reseal with morimoto. this is the correct stuff to use on lights. not silicone!!!

i just got a front and rear set of depos off ebay for $233. the literature that came with them basically said leaks are normal and to expect them. lol.

I really enjoy my depo! Resealed them when I did my projector retrofit and zero leaks!
