Yeah I wear contacts. I went to the optometrist and they weren't much help. Said it was due to eye fatigue since I stare at screens all day. Not much I can do about that though.

Was going to be my rig.... but I have a dirty driving record thanks to speeding tickets back in 2017 so their insurance put a hold on everything and I ended up losing the job cause I couldn’t be under their coverage. Win some lose some.

So now I’m back at this job and just practicing my tig again cause it’s still uncomfortable to me and that’s gonna make me fail a test under pressure.

They suspended my license back in 2017 due to getting 3 tickets in a certain time frame. So they slapped a “habitual violator” charge on me and that’s gonna stick on my record till 2022 so I’m fucked for a while

It happens. I ain’t one for excuses. I did this to myself younger and dumber and didn’t realize it would effect me this long. Is what it is. Back to plant work I go. No rig work till that record clears up.

I dunno if I’d call the Vulcan helmet a “cheapo” since it was like $150 iirc. I have it too and am extremely pleased with it.

In Texas it’s a 3 year thing but I got all mine within like 6 months. I’m gonna consider it bad luck considering it was always on random roads and not dipping in traffic. But anytime I would speed back then, I’d get busted.

Now I don’t even risk it and stay under the limit.

But 3 tickets @ 10% or greater than the posted speed limit is all it took

I just didn’t even think about that. I knew I was guilty so I paid my tickets and kept going.

Didn’t realize that a storm was brewing in the background.

Ignorance with good intentions I guess is the best way to explain it.

Finally get the welder dialed in on one weld and do one of probably my best welds to date and then it acts up and keeps popping on the other welds... Oh well

Any one of these 3 would be my 1st choice for learning to mig weld.

They also will have plenty of capacity to weld some pretty thick material.Screenshot_20190818-085152.jpg Screenshot_20190818-085106.jpg Screenshot_20190818-085044.jpg

I have the Hobart handler 210, it’s jist a tad bigger than that one. But I must say it runs a pretty good bead. I’m no welder by any means. I do it as a hobby and on the side for people. But that Hobart does a pretty good job IMO. I don’t seem to have any pictures of my welds saved. But I’ll get a few next time I’m using it

Edit: I found one picture but this is about 6 months ago. Like I said, I’m not welder, but I’ve seen a lot worse

I have the Hobart 190 and love it. It literally lived through a fire and still works flawlessly

The only downside to the combination of a new welder and a new welding machine is not knowing if the machine is doing what it should when it should be.

It happens now and then people put up with major problems not knowing any better while the warranty runs out .

Have any friends coworkers that can give you a start ??

The most important things are being comfortable and being able to see .

Videos some of the newer welders must have favorites .
