I got a pair of Mobtown Offroad Low Rise Bed Bars to mount bikes and stuff while being still able to use the bed. Also wanted to keep the bed covered while carrying bikes - so my options were either KBVoodoo or Mobtown.

The tonneau cover is an Extang Trifecta Signature 2.0 Trifold soft cover. Lots of youtube videos about them - Mobtown didn't say specifically it would work with this - but it did say it worked with the hard tri-fold version - so I'll chance it.

I chose Mobtown as their bars looked less chunkier as I wanted to use my existing Yakima racks. Shipping was pretty quick but be forwarned if you're importing it into Canada - there are two pieces and each piece gets dinged by UPS for brokerage fees.

All the pieces were there and it came packed nicely so nothing gets mashed during delivery.
(Beefy plates and assorted bolts and slot hardware)

Crossbars are square and ready for T-slot attachments.Screen Shot 2019-08-17 at 8.47.48 PM.jpg

Assembly was pretty straightforward -mount the smaller 10mm bolt with the small plate to create a 'nook' for the crossbars..

Pre-assemble the slot hardware and slide it into the factory rail (take out end cap and anything else in the way)

As you can see there is plenty of room on the side for the tonneau cover.

Once the four plates are mounted, slide the crossbars into the 'nook' and it will align with the bolt hole to secure the crossbars.

Three of the crossbar bolts were an easy hand threading start before tightening down with the socket wrench. However, one of the thread on the crossbar was whack -and only allowed me to hand thread a few turns before it got tough.

I looked at the threads and it looked like it was misaligned when machined. I emailed Mobtown and Joe asked if I was handy with a tap - I don't have a tap (yet) but I didn't want to cross thread a brand new bar either. I also don't want to tap a larger thread that will need a different sized bolt.

I'll let know you know how it goes - but I haven't installed the crossbars completely yet.

Anyways, continuing on, I spaced the plates 21 inches apart so it works well with the Yakima spread AND can allow for the trifold tonneau to work a bit.

Open sesame! I can open the tonneau and get stuff inside while the crossbars are on!

The kit comes with a roll of adhesive sided foam tape to provide a gasket between the bed and the added 'bump' from the plates. I didn't install the tape to see where and how big the gaps were going to be when the tonneau is down. Looking at it from the inside - you can see the gap between the front and rear plate.

It actually rained that day - so I took it for a 30 minute drive to see how much it would allow water in...

It got wet - not too crazy - but it didn't leak before. I added the tape after everything was dry.. and now I'm waiting for another rain to see how well the foam tape works.

So aside from the wonky crossbar threading -it works with the Extang Trifecta 2.0 so far. It's pretty beefy and I won't be worrying about holding bikes at all. Just gotta figure out the threading and I'll post some pics with the completed bars and stuff mounted on it.

I really wish there was a Canadian company for something similar. These would cost an arm and a leg with the dollar being in the shitter! They look good though.
