I hit the 120k mark and did the sparks plugs today. I decided to go a step further and pull the throttle body to clean it. When I pulled the air intake off, I found these:20190817_123804.jpg

Little bastards were having a party in there at some point. I would suggest checking yours. I don't live anywhere out of the ordinary and park in a garage. If I got 'em, you probably do.

Mice probably did that. We had a problem with those guys 2 yrs ago. I was told every 7 yrs there’s an outbreak of the mice and they store those acorns for the winter. I found the same thing in my shop and basement. I then started setting traps and keeping score. I caught 43 of those little suckers and still have traps baited now. Look for mice poop to verify. Maybe squirrels also.

Where your orange arrow is pointing are 2 knock sensors hidden way down deep, that have wire harnesses that attract rats
The knock sensor plugs are a bitch to get to, almost to the point of removing a cylinder head there are many threads about it, do what you can to keep them out of there.

The also like to get down in where the wiper arms mont. (windshield wipers)

Pop your hood. Look down in the vent just below the windshield.
They like it there too....... it’s nuts how many can get in there.

I took care of that a couple years ago. Put a metal screen over the intake. Mice built a nest on top of my cabin air filter. Hasn't happened since.
