The coil suspension requires the matching axle which is 2" wider and has cast in radius arm mounts. but....I will have the leaf sprung front left over after I do the swap :gossip:

My dad has an 04 F250 with the 6.0 and has had thousands of dollars in repairs to do in just 100k miles. Hope it works out better for you than it has for others! It can definitely hold it's own towing wise though.

There's no such thing as a cheap 3/4 ton diesel, either pay for it on the front end or pay for it on the back end. :anonymous:

You're already close to $3500 parts plus your time....and at some point a FICM replacement too.

Ah, I'm paying for it hahahaha. Fortunately the injectors and FICM seems healthy. I'm seeing voltages of 47.5-49v and the truck passed a contribution test and overall is running pretty damn well as of late.

I've always wanted a 6.0 and I have no aversion to project vehicles so it was a good choice for me. I wouldn't recommend it to someone who isn't able to do almost all of their own repairs and maintenance. On top of parts the labor rate for diesel work is killer.

I got the front end together with new tie rod ends and ball joints and the steering is much tighter.

Stuff doesn't come painted anymore so I hit it with some rustoleum so it doesn't instantly turn into an ugly brown mess.

the axle seal tool was $99 at the local parts houses so I made my own

Haven't updated in a while but Rotella T6 + Archoil has cleared up all of the stiction I was seeing on cold starts. Truck is running great and I've been using it to run to work in Boulder several times a week with no issues...of course I'm still loading up the parts cannon, I have shocks, u joints, rear carrier bearing, rear pinion seal, a new tailgate, a fuel gauge to install.

With the Looney Wild tune from Quick Tricks the truck really woke up and moves great and is seeing better MPG on the commute

I have kept quiet til the check cleared but after 2+ months Uhaul's insurance settled. After admitting fault they kept """forgetting""" to send the check to me. I rented a trailer in May to pick up a car I bought, let them hook everything up, and then it came off the ball and fucked my tailgate and bed.

Truck must have previously had an accident that cracked the bed, you can see the dark spot where it was welded together but said welds cracked when the trailer hit.

I picked up a tailgate from my buddy and am in the process of painting it and cleaning it up before putting it on. The upside is that people don't tailgate nearly as much when your truck is fawked up :)

Right? You can imagine my excitement when I found one on craigslist in the same factory silver...except it had a similar dent :annoyed:

There's a company on Amazon that sells aftermarket replacement gates painted to match for $400-500 shipped IIRC so I may go that route eventually.

Got my "new" tailgate on. Hoped I could get a better finish with plain old "aluminum" Rust-Oleum but with 7 coats, lots of wet sanding with 800,1500,2000 grit I still ended up with some streaks, even after cutting and polishing. It doesn't look so great but it is way better than denty. I'm going to cover it in some vinyl graphics to hide the paint if I can manage to get around to it.

(Forgive the parking job, my friend parked it like that after borrowing it to move :bananadead:)

The bed had been repaired after a previous accident but those welds broke when the trailer hit. The gate would shut because the pass side quarter of the bed was pulled out about an inch.

    IMG_20190812_160611.jpg

Til I can reinforce and reweld it I pulled the bedsides in with ratchet straps. Gate closed nicely and the gap isn't perfect but it's way less hideous.

Before I put a heavy trailer behind the truck I've been wanting to add fuel pressure and pyrometer gauges. Glowshift is the cheapest option but I felt like they'd do the job well enough.

    IMG_20190813_203621.jpg

The other night I combined the harnesses for the 2 gauges I'm installing so I only have to hook up one power, ground, illumination, ignition wire.

Today I put in a sender for the fuel pressure gauge and the pyro into the exhaust manifold and ran the wires for both through the firewall and up to the top of the dash.

I still need to wire up the gauges but I burned through all my project energy for the weekend.
