Sheesh, they have really made the Corolla a bit more aggressive looking than what it used to be. Thing just looks rude, not just for Grandma anymore.

 

Ben is that a 2019 model? I am curious what the stick price was. Care to share?

 

Didn't realize it is a hatchback. Thought it was a sedan for some reason. I forgot they offer more variations these days.

Nope. Replacing the seals and new oil should be fairly straight forward but without a way to recharge afterwards there is no point. I sent them off to Tim at 303 Shock Services @TMFF

 

I'm kinda just betting on not making it to retirement, seems easier to leave someone with a hospital bill and call it a day compared to trying to actually retire as part of this generation.

So - for anyone who's pulled the rear axle seal...Timmy suggests an SST (slide hammer-thingy) for that, but I cant imagine that I couldn't just stick something in behind it and pull it out. Is it really hard to get out?

 

Timmy's stuff is very much "by the book basic" a normal seal puller or a good screwdriver should work fine

 

I use a 12" prybar with the end taped up to prevent scratching.

 

Not as unique as you might think. A little effort and planning goes a long ways when your in your mid-twenties.

You guys have any neat tricks or tips for taking pictures of the stars? The night sky at bear camp is pretty nuts when it’s clear.

Lots. What are you trying to achieve and what camera?

 

Sony A6000, nothing too complicated I guess?

 

What kind of lenses do you have. And what does that mean? Like just starts? or trails?

 

Stars, it has a 16-50 mm f3.5-5.6 lens and then one with more zoom or whatever.

Okay. Typically you'll want wide for a few reasons. One is focus though, likely will struggle to get any focus on anything zoomed further than 18mm. You want the focus on Infinity which can be achieved at night by using a bright flash light to focus on that is as far away as possible. Once it is focused. Turn manual focus on and do not touch the focus ring.

Every camera is a bit different, but a good place to start is 16mm - f4 - iso1600(up to 4000) - 30sec shutter.

You will need a tripod no matter what.

The goal is to get a little noise as possible but not always doable depending on the photo. You want as long of a shutter as possible. However too long and you'll start to get trails. But you'll be safe to do like 10 mins or so before its bad.

But the higher the iso the more starts the camera will pick up. But noisier it'll get too.

Getting a remote is wise but if you set your shutter timer to 2 sec delay when on a tripod thats all you really need to take just start photos like this

To get into layering and star trails you'll want a remote and/or intervalmeter, which your camera might have built in, like these

Then just practice practice practice. The darker your environment the better.

The last set is of course editing. Star photos require the most editing of any photo I do to make it look good.
