Forgive my ignorance but what is this part called and how much play should there be in it? Should both sides have the same amount of play? My driver side feels looser and I can move it till it comes out of the circular part center part.20190817_110835.jpg 20190817_110911.jpg

Looks like the drive shaft, pics zoomed in an awful lot.
Save the "Help" title for those stranded and in trouble, there's actually some here willing to rescue locals.

That’s your front CV axle and yes it’s normal to have play.

Both sides won’t have the same amount of play.

    Yes this exactly.......
So I do need the EGCS bushing then?
I have 5100s with 888 coils set to 2.75" of lift i believe. About 2 years of daily driving.

Replacing the stock needle bearing with the ECG bushing is to fix vibrations issues. You getting vibes?

I don't even have a lift and i did this, "you lift, you need"
There are a few good threads on this , look into them you will be happy on what you find.

Its not to bad to do, a hour or two. if you can work on things

I've replaced the DS bearing with the ECGS bushing on 2 different tacomas and had the same amount of in and out play after. If you're lifted it will eliminate the vibrations that are caused by the OE bearing, but the play will still be there.

I've seen trucks with the same thing put 100k+ miles on it without issue. Its so prevalent that it actually seems to be "a characteristic of the truck".

I've also had vibes when braking, I finally installed a 3 degree shim with my Dakars this time and no vibes when braking now. Toyota had a TSB to shim some of the stock leafs as well, so you may want to try an angled shim for the rear, seems like a source of vibration under decel.

The shim on the axle is what fixed mine.

    This is what I used:

Same with me. I had vibes at low speeds and also when braking. I installed the ECG bushing and no change, still had the vibes. I installed a carrier bearing drop spacer and that didn't fix it either. The 3 degree shim fixed my vibes. I have the allpro std leaf pack.
