Taco noob warmly welcoming help from community

Hellommm I'm searching for them good good deals on a first gen 4x4 taco under 150k miles... big dreams I know the search has been arduous and mildly disappointing but I feel like I'm getting closer. I'm located in NorCal so while these trucks are not in short supply (literally every other car on the road is a taco) they are in HIGH demand! Any tips, tricks, major red flags, forums to help in the search? Craigslist has left me high and dry. All suggestions welcome!

It might seriously benefit you to look elsewhere in the country and buy a one way plane ticket. Every generation of taco in cali is idiotically overpriced.

well shite, thats pretty much what my intuition (and kelly blue book) was telling me but I didn't want to believe it

 

I peeped those forums and all the dang trucks are sold already! sort of misleading to keep the posts up months after sale :/ gives a good idea of the market tho

 

Welcome to TW... Try Car Gurus and there’s a ton of Tacoma’s on eBay. I located my last 2 Tacoma’s on Car Gurus even though I had to travel to get both of them but I was very particular as to what I wanted.

 

Thats a pet peeve of mine on here. Im all for keeping the thread up, but at least change the title to SOLD haha

 

Yeah, I was searching on Ebay just for fun to see what was out there the other day. There's quite a few, many very nice, some priced reasonably. The downside is you'll have to deal with Ebay, probably have to travel, could possibly get ripped off, might have to buy a used truck site unseen. A road trip is a nice way to break in your new ride though! Patience and Craigslist might be your best bet. Maybe check Arizona, Nevada, Oregon Craigslist as well.
