@Mr Marv ftw. He builds and sells various sub boxes and amp racks specifically designed for the tacomas. Just ordered one for a 10" JL W3 and amp rack

What price range would I be looking at with that?

Here's a thread that show's what I went with - including links to the sub and amp. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2018-dbl-cab-audio-upgrade-incoming.609207/

It is only an 8" sub in a ported box but it will shake the rear view mirror. I went with this as I did not want to cut out or remove the rear plastic storage bins or the plastic on the back of the rear seat. If you want more bass you will need to remove both the rear plastic storage bins and the plastic on the back of the rear seats and go with a 10" or 12" sub.

I should also mention I did the subaru tweeter upgrade and the kicker speaker upgrade for both front and rear doors and then added a Kicker Key amp. This kickers coupled with the Kicker key amp definitely improves the sound and bass output. That said, the kicker speakers on their own don't come close in terms of bass output to the JL audio sub.

I went with a full height box. I'm running a pioneer AVH-W4500NEX, with JBL amp delete. Kicker speakers in the doors. Obviously with the JBL delete, means loss of the factory sub. The full height box requires removal of the plastic bins along the cab wall, but they dont get utilized much for me anyways. The box I believe was around 260 plus shipping. All custom built out of birch. Quality stuff for sure. Built to spec for the JL subs as well.

Not necessarily, there are many ways to skin a cat. They are nice and easy to install. I built mine to specs and used the JL TW1. Sounds really clean and has a great punch in the seat.
