So this is not a new issue and doesn't happen consistently, but has been occurring for the past several months.

    Vehicle: 2017 TRD Pro

The issue: is between the head unit and the bluetooth connection to the phone. This issue occurs while the head unit is on. It has occurred when listening to the radio, streaming through bluetooth, and even when the unit is just on but not playing music.

What happens: I will hit the talk-to-text function on my iPhone, and the phone with freak out the head unit, making the head unit restart as though I had just turned on the vehicle. The phone isn't plugged into the vehicle in any way, so I know it can't be a direct short from the phone to the head unit.

Does anyone know what is happening here?

You need to update the head unit software. Took care of it on my truck. Takes about ~10 minutes. Just need a flash drive.

Thanks guys. I’ll look into that tonight. I’ve been doing the updates on the unit when they come up, but it’s a notification that I’ve gotten from the unit itself to download. This isn’t the same thing?

Correct. Those are for the apps on the headunit. This is the software for the headunit itself
