Life is short, so do what makes you happy. (within reason of course) The part that would hold me back would be the lease. While you could rollover the payments, could you wait till the lease is terminated? I’d always put finances first as the new toys will always be there. I’m currently trying to sell my 01 E46 M3 though if you’re interested :D Love the car, but it’s time to part ways.

You’ll never find a car that fits both needs, so, have two. If its a cheap used BMW, it may pay for itself

My old nissan did when i drove a suburban, and my bmw did when i drove a silverado

Ah man i miss my bmw too!

    this and that...
if you miss your bmw, you already have buyers remorse. nothing you do to the taco will make those feelings go away. either be content with what you got, buy a project bmw and work on that and have both, or sell your rig and get another bmw. for me, i would pick up a project cause i like tinkering with things and plus nothing is gonna replace having a truck, not even having a small trailer tied to whatever vehicle you decide to pick up in the future.

Having the functional daily, plus a fun second to scratch the itch is the best of both worlds.

Modded, leased truck, that you're unhappy with, and wanting a BMW. I think you know where I'm going with this.

That's the second best color ever, phoenix yellow.

Laguna Seca Blue being the best of course.

Been there done that with BMW's. My favorite all time car was my '08 E60 M5 6MT. However, I got sick of carrying two car payments (I know you said yours was paid off), two insurance bills, two gas bills. Not to mention they were out of warranty and hated clenching up every time I heard a bell or chime. The Tacoma and BMW are, of course, at opposite ends of the spectrum so the choice is not easy.

Maybe I'm becoming a simpler guy as I fly past 40, but douching it up in a BMW or an Audi doesn't appeal to me anymore.

    Stalkers?

The Exocet will run I think 8k ish + a donor miata so around 10k for a basic build. Not bad for something that is on par with an ariel atom for 1/4 of the price.

I would get what you want. I came from an Acura that drove great. Keyless start, leather, sunroof. After 2 years of driving it around it just wasn't me. I found an SR 4x4 and look back at it after I park it every time. I love my truck. If you're a car person and don't feel that way about your vehicle it's time to move on. Life is too short

Cars are fun on road, that's why I have my lexus, but trucks are also fun off road, so I mean why not just have both, unless having a truck really doesn't tickle your fancy then I guess its just not meant to be. Life's too short to drive boring vehicles.
