What wheels do you guys have on your 2nd gen with 285/70r17 tires? I’m trying to figure out what specs would be the best in terms of offset & backspacing to avoid rubbing on my UCA’s or brake calipers, I have my eye on a set of 17x9 -12 offset. I also have a 3 inch lift. Thanks!

Offset does not necessarily play a role in clearing the brake caliper. It is a factor, but it comes down to the spoke design. Most wheels should clear the caliper, at least the more commonly offered ones.

17x8.5 -10 would be a common spec, which would be *conservative* while still being flush with the flare line with a 285/70r17.

@BVita my main concern is rubbing on my stock UCA’s.

I’m running 17x8.5 -10 offset. No caliper issues, no uca issues(jba uca).

With an 8" wheel, look for 0 offset, 8.5" wheel should be around -6 to -10 offset, 9" wheel should be around -12 offset. I have 17x8.5 with -10 offset and 305/65/17 tires and 3" lift.

17x9-12 is going to rub on the cab side of the fender well, lift wont change that.

UCA rub and brake rub is rare and an odd concern. Stick with 17s and the calipers should clear. You should clear stock UCAs even with stock TRD wheels and 285s, I could only see an issue with running 17x9 with a positive offset.

Ive seen a local dealer put 285s on all the current stock TRD wheels, I've checked UCA clearance because I was curious and it was good. The 16" TRD wheels were a little close, but the 4Runner TRD wheels that are 17" were good by about an inch.
