Hey all, I recently put a 3" lift on my 2013 Tacoma Prerunner. I was hoping I could get some insight on a good wheel/tire setup that won't have any rubbing. I wanted to get 285/70r17 tires. Originally I was going to keep using my stock wheels but they stick too far into my wheel well and it looks like any bigger tire size on them would cause rubbing on the upper control arm.

Gonna need a Cab mount chop with 285s if you dont want any rubbing. Also gonna want a wheel with 4.5" or less backspacing to keep them off the UCAs. Pushing them out further (with a wheel with less backspacing) causes them to rub more on the Cab mounts which is why youll likely need that done if you want to use the truck offroad without rubbing issues

I have a 2015 prerunner. 17x8.5 -10 offset with 285/70/17 caster at 4 degrees. Zero rubbing even on light trails. NO CMC needed.

Is it the extra width of the 285 tire that causes the rubbing, or is it the larger diameter? I'm looking at 265/75-16 for my truck and hoping I don't need more than a 2" lift.

I haven't tried fitting anything on yet but just by looking at it the extra width on stock wheels is surely going to rub on the UCA. It's got like an inch of space with 265/75r17.

Thank you! Is there a chance you have a link where you found your wheels? The closest thing i'm finding is an r18 and I was hoping to stay 17 if I can. Not really a fan of the less treadwall life lol

Width, and wheel spec plays a part, lots of guys run skinny 33s with no rubbing ect 255/85/16, I have 265/75/16s and didn't rub when I was stock. I rub now with aftermarket wheels and a lift.
