    Greetings all,
As the title suggests I am negotiations with a dealership for a 2019 AC TRD Sport MT. Some of the numbers don't smell right and I was hoping to get independent insight. Chiefly, I am active duty stationed in California (buying in California) and I will be registering it in my resident state of Washington. The dealership knows this but a $504 "registration" still appears on the negotiation. When questioned about this they assure me it would be more expensive being a Californian (they even played around with some of the different "options" on the computer.) They even said it has something to do with vehicle weight despite that being a separate line item of $80. Sorry I don't have anymore information as I have a habit of tuning out people I suspect are BSing me. Am I being paranoid? Is this a legitimate fee attached with all new vehicle sales regardless of where they will be registered?

When I buy new I am not concerned with all the numbers, just the final total out the door price. Don't let them sell you a payment instead of out the door price. They will stretch out the loan time to meet whatever you can afford but then you end up with payments for 6, 7 or even 8 years.

I second Willie B. I always have an out the door price based on research and stick to it. I really don't care how they itemize it.

    Welcome to Tacoma World.

I have never purchased a new vehicle from another state other than the state I was registering it in?

    How does that work?

My own guess is that you get a temp reg, from the dealer a paper tag if you will.

The last vehicle I purchased in state came with real tags, metal plates.

My Tacoma came with a paper tag, even though I registered it in state at the time of purchase. I think it depends how the dealer operates.

Can you buy a new vehicle and not register, or insure it?

I'd think so, you couldn't drive it off the lot though.

No longer in the market. The stealership tried some nonsense so I walked away. Found this one within a few days from a private party. 2016 TRD Sport AC/MTIMG_20190914_104413.jpg IMG_20190914_104425.jpg
