Hello, I have a question for the 2nd gen suspension experts out there.

I'm new to the Tacoma world, ive had a Lot of experience with leaf sprung Land Cruisers but not much with these ifs trucks. Recently, I purchased a 07 TRD Off Road with 6 speed manual, access cab and 139k miles. The prior owners lifted the truck and it wares 285/17 Goodyear MTRs on some flavor of aluminum wheels. What I think I have is Bilstein 5100s and a 1in wheel spacer up front and what looks like an add a leaf and bds Fox 2.0 shocks in the rear.

This truck rides and handles well on the road but I have yet to take it off pavement. Im not a hard core rock crawler but do spend quit a bit of time offroad on ranches hunting, scouting, checkin waters/feeders ect. What I plan to do is add an ARB front bumper and 8-10k winch with synthetic rope so my question is, will this front suspension hold up to the extra 150 or so pounds or do I need to upgrade some of the components to allow for clearance when articulating?

    Thanks everyone,

If budget is a concern, to make it functional and ride nice, I would go with OME shocks and 886 coils, LR UCA's and dakars out back.

    Simple, functional and budget friendly.

With an additional 150 pounds in the front. You will loose some lift in the front. If you can determine what coils you have you can then upgrade. For example go from 550 lbs to 600 or 650 lbs coils.

What is the best way to determine what coils I have, can I measure the spring wire diameter and number of coils or is it a different helix angle which would require removal?

See if you can find a part number printed on the coil.

Didnt remove the wheel but there are no obvious part numbers, only a red and white dab of paint on the coils?

I just bought used 2011 Off-road DCSB and the coils and UCA looks the same, but I have Bilsteins front and rear....not sure about the rear springs. I don't think it was lifted as my hub to fender (after market bushwackers) are 21-1/2" front and 22" rear.
