That could work too. I'm glad the 1GRFE doesn't have a pilot bearing. Makes clutch work a bit easier.

 

The guy at my transmission shop was telling me the same thing and that he scratches his head wondering why they left it out. He said he's done plenty of 2nd gen Tacoma MTs with the worn down input shaft and sleeve. Although all the other bearings have been beefed up in the 2nd gens, he thinks all the ones he's replaced, is due to the lack of a pilot bearing. I guess the pilot bearing would have 2 bearings to support the shaft, as opposed to 1.

For what it's worth, I like my Duratracs. I like em even better than the KO2s. I ran the BFG ATs in the late 90s on my first Tacoma. I did a lot of mudholes back then and they would turn into a slick, with all the red Bama clay here. As an AT tire, the KO2s were great, they just weren't good in the mud. Great mileage, I got 55K+ miles out of them, but they were heavy. The Nitto Terra Grappler is another excellent AT tire that I've ran before.

 

I love my ridge grapplers. Have had them on for about 35k With all the offroad use we usally do and they still have about 40% left. Looking at either going KO2, MT ATZ P3 or mud tire in Falken MT. Prob will go KO2. Nittos are crazy expensive. But you get what you pay for. Its about another $45 ish a tire for the nittos over the KO2

 

Those ridge grapplers have been impressive! I want to try something different this time, something I've never tried before. I honestly wish they would bring the old school BFG MT pattern back. The best mud tire I ever ran back then. This time, I'm thinking the new Firestone MT2s or the Maxxis RZRs.

Interesting tread pattern. Like the new MTR pattern, asymmetrical.

Found em! Price is right! BUT I feel like the design could of gone more along the body lines...seems rushed to me.
I feel like they should compliment the body lines more like these. What you think @Jerneyman think you could come up with a cleaner design if I supplied you with the weld on slam latch that is made for our yotas? They sell them separately for those wanting to make their own tube doors.

 

I could probably come up with something. But I think I’d be hard pressed to make tube doors look good on these trucks. Seems more of a function over form sort of thing to be honest. After the latches, hinges, and tubing, you’d probably be better off buying from 4xinnovations.

 

Well fine then Wes, just say “I have better things to do with my time rather than deal with your pesky tube door project, peasant.”

 

Nah, I’m just saying building tube doors would be more expensive with me since I can’t get bulk pricing on very specific parts like Toyota door hinges.

But yes, my time is valuable these days when I’m off work since there’s not much of it.
