What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Check your blocks, if they’re tapered they might be on backwards. I had that problem. I flipped them, problem solved immediately.

 

So we were driving up through the construction on the Interstate, wife was in front passenger seat...had a camero ahead of me who was behind a big rig w/o trailer and I saw him drift into construction entrance/shoulder, saw a rock about the size of a golf ball jump off his rear wheels, over the camero and onto the windscreen. Wife saw "something" coming at us and thought it was a bird, until it impacted!

I of course was like..."fuck! well that's great!"

Her immediate response, like Bob's, was, "Well at least it's the glass and not the hood, or headlight! That deductible isn't sh!t!!"

 

Smart woman. I too have "Zero" deductible on glass breakage.

Travel? What do you have, trailer? This is a SCAMP trailer 16' Shower, refrigerator 6 sq. ft. bathroom queen size bed. T.V. (satellite) Oh yea, A/C too. It's my hunting LODGE on wheels. It's only for me though. But it will be good for two ! Tacoma hauls it great up to 9000'. Hardly know it is there! Congrats on the retirement!!!! Best of luck.

 

The initial plan is to make 3 - 2' hinged sections that I'll be able to open as needed from the side windows. Each section will be carpeted. In the PM I'll inflate a double air mattress & deflate in the AM. Storage underneath, of course. I'll do a test run on a hunting trip to AZ later this year (KOA here I come). I know I'm going to need a step of some sort. The Mrs. legs aren't that long.

Nice, something we're chewing on now. She still has 3 years to go before she gets to quit punching the clock. No telling what we'll finally decide to do. I'm thinking it may be a combo of hotels and camping just to get her buy-in.

 

If you think about it it is like camping in a hotel? No. Without the neighbors banging the head board all night above you?

 

Thanks for input. My blocks are correct. They only have 1 deg. of taper and it just isn't enough to get that pinion angle to shaft angle under the 3 deg. difference.

 

Just out of curiosity, what do you do for heat and hot water, and power for the fridge? (I know nothing of trailers)

 

For heat I have a furnace and also water heater separate from the furnace. the fridge runs on propane of which I have two five gallon tanks in the front. Well, they all run on the propane. The fridge has the option to run on electricity if I have hook ups to shore power. I also have a 3000 watt inverter generator that I can watch T.V on or use the microwave, or run the A/C. Use the MacBook too if I have internet. Usually not an option where I go. Haven't needed the A/C too much. HA HA.
