Alright. Good tips guys. I’ll be doing as suggested and removing the skid, and going in for a new strap. I’ve got a full tank, so I may out the plastic piece back up and go for a nice drive first.
    Love this forum.

Does anyone else wonder why a slider is bolted to the gas tank?

Vise grips if it’s a bolt
If it’s a stud grind, drill and tap
    Or
Replace the part and borrow a torque wrench
Back off torque is more than cinch

It’s a steel skid so you don’t puncture your tank going over rocky terrain. Lots of it out here in Utah. Unless your question is more about why it isn’t secured elsewhere then... :notsure:

Thanks for the tip on back off vs cinch torquing
