I don't think that will work my backup camera

 

This sounds like a nice upgrade. My 09 didnt come with a overhead temp display, or back up camera. Been considering adding a backup cam as the camera itself is already in the tailgate. Wonder what it'd take to get it going with an aftermarket HU

 

You got the backup in the mirror? I had that in my 10, and the display for temp and direction in the roof. Never for get having to go drive in circles in some shopping lot off the highway in Eureka, MO. Had son look it up in the manual, and how could I resist driving in circles "because the manual said so". Son also wanted a photo of the Eureka exit sign, because that TV series was on then.

I have a cam in the rear plate frame, and works just fine with my Kenwood head - probably work with any. They gave you a cam? Wonder if the plug is up by the head. I did the Gentek replacement mirror with direction and temp. Cab wiring was in there, under hood was not. Both in my build as pretty early on mods.

 

Yes sir, noticed it when installing the pop and lock handle. Camera and wiring is out back. Ive never looked up under the front headliner to see if there was a plug. My guess is that it might be prewired since 09 was the first year for the backup cam. Maybe ill get lucky and the wiring will be in place

 

If you have a cam with wiring that heads to the cab, I bet you got wiring IN the cab! Worth a look. Should be able to tell in the overhead console, since it would have gone to the mirror. My "humble" opinion of my 07, is that it was built during the beginning of update changes for the 08, because like almost all the cab wiring exists, but nothing outside.

 

With all the redacted info, that could be dog food for your neighbor!

@BassAckwards - check this out if you find a harness up top. Can shop for similar, but all in one, leaves your console for switches if you want. If I had seen this.... ah but the big screen is better, even if I don't get a great picture. I still use every mirror in the truck.
