3rd Gen HID vs LED vs Halogen H11 projector headlights

I did the H9 swap into the low beams yesterday. No problems getting them into the housing.

 

Strange, mine would not go in no matter how I oriented them.

 

I’ll test these out soon, though I’m not optimistic on the performance results.

 

Looking forward to it. Love my LED's. I believe mine are 25 watt per bulb and not 17 though but nonetheless

 

No big expectation with it. Used it in my wife's Sienna 2yrs ago for a month, and went back to the Osram night breakers that was in there previously . Lack of throw was the biggest problem. Also noticed a bit of V shape dark spot on the beam pattern on the ground. Happy with the GE+130 in the van now. going to try the Philips H9 when the bulbs go.

 

I am using the Sylvania fog light versions of these in my wife's QX70 and they are pretty good. The color complements the D2S CBI's well.

 

Cross section width is more important than wattage and lumen output for projected output.

Standard LED problems. The Philips H9s or the GE +120s are both higher performing than the GE +130s.

 

H11's could fit in place of H16s. I installed H11 LEDs on 2018 Highlander H16 fog lights, without any problems.

 

LEDs are made to fit several bulb types as a semi-universal application, they are not a true accurate representation of what fits. Not all H16 (Japanese) sockets will accept a real H11 bulb, however if they do not fit, with some modification it is likely they can.

 

Are the GE +120's everyone talks about the NightHawk ones?

I had those on my stock headlights but I just upgraded to the retrofit RX350 projectors (highly recommended by the way). So, now my kit will be going up for sale. They were definitely an improvement over stock, but as stated in this thread, they were not ideal due to the stock projectors having "squirrel spotters". Also, some people have noticed some shaking with the HIDs in the stock housing. I had minimal if any shaking with mine, but your experience may be different.

 

I’ve noticed shaking with the GE +130’s actually. Not nearly as bad as the XD 4300k non-Phillips kit I had before, but shake nonetheless.

 

@crashnburn80 any thoughts on these OSRAM Night Breaker LASER H11 +150%? They appear different than other night breaker Silver H11 +100% I have seen in the past.

Also, just for my own edification, is the "150%" an objective or subjective industry standard when say comparing it to the GE Nighthawk Xenon +120 and GE Megalight Ultra +130 that we have covered in this feed? As always thanks for the input in advance!

Hear Hear! couldn't agree more. He's already a humanitarian and working his way towards the Nobel Prize for his outstanding work.

 

I did retest them as the very low output of that initial measurement seemed bothered me, the did much better in the 2nd test. Their re-test lux rating is covered in the chart in post #2. The tests are usually fairly consistent, I’m not sure why that initial one came in so low, but regardless the GE bulbs still perform higher. Osram got a bit over zealous on the blue coating on the +150s which reduces output despite having a higher efficiency rating.
