    I was at the u-pick-it today to get a washer fluid reservoir for my '02 4x4 with ADD when I noticed, first, the donor truck was in great shape with a lot of parts (must have just come in) and secondly it had the AISIN manual hubs. The donor was a '98 and usually the hubs are snatched right up. So I did what any respectable Tacoma owner would do... I pulled the entire hub/knuckle/axle assembly!

    So my question is... what now? Can I just drop this into my '02 and call it good or is there some other parts/tricks I should know about. I may even consider just selling the parts if it seems like more of a conversion than I want to do.

    I have the knuckles, UCA, axles and hubs assembled. Donor truck had 180k on it. Axle boots are not torn.

    Go back and get this, this is a vital part of the conversion. You need a good impact and E-Torx bits.

    Yep, pulled the whole assembly, UCAs down. And since I don't have a locker or care about brownie points I'll probably be selling that assembly.

    You got the axle tube off the front differential too? It's worth almost $200 by itself, it's rare and high demand.

    Yes, please yank it! That is a super sought after part. Can't stress the good impact part enough, it will not come off unless you have it.

    I have a 1/2" Dewalt. What torx bit though? Would it be worthwhile to pull the whole clamshell?

    E torx. It's an inverted torx bit and I didn't know they existed until I had to take apart my front diff.

    Pulling the whole front diff sucks. I'd just get the tube.

    Not sure what size E-Torx it is, just bring the whole set. If you strip one (you might, I did) you have to take the whole diff. I had to weld a nut to it to get it off.

    You might need to torch around the tube and clamshell, it's also held it with FIPG which makes an even tighter bond.

    Got it! A 1/2" drive impact E14 socket, three 1/2" wobble extensions, a 1/2" impact, 4-batteries for the impact and a torch and she dropped! I gotta say the torch is probably what made the difference. I went through two 20v batteries.
