I don't think you need to stress yourself.

All my machines are high end Miller. I only wish these HF units were available when I bought my millers. I can but 3 if the Titanium machines for what I paid for 1 miller welder.

I wish people would stop thinking these machines are disposable, Chinese crap. They are not! The drive systems are of the same durability as the miller machines. The drive systems are the weak link of any welder.

You got a good welder. You are only going to get better.

I've ran my Vulcan for almost two years now. Zero issues so far. All hobby/truck stuff. Lots of bad and good welds for sure.

That’s why I purchased a 2 year warranty just in case. When I got mine it was beginning of this year and there really wasn’t any information out on the titanium.

Started mock up today for 7 10'x10' chandeliers for one of the ballrooms at the Bellagio. These will be permanent install .
I don't really do much permanent stuff for the Casino resorts. CNC panel is lightweight mdf for mock up only. Final panels will be .120 6061 aluminum.

Thick enough I can take my time but thin enough the machine isn’t spitting out a lot of wire real fast. Finally figuring this machine out. Last welds are a little hot because I welded the piece all in one go.

Funny other then Consumables The drive Systems are the part that fail the least .

Then you have people cranking down wire tension with Channel Locks.

When I have to turn Customers away with Chinese Built machines because Tech Support is not available nor are parts for machines out of warranty They are forever going to be poor quality !!

Now in some cases because they are knock offs American Brand Parts will fit but people buying low cost machines really don`t want to pay $300.00 to repair a $500.00 machine .

Anyone Having Access to Tech Support or Parts please Share !

Make it a Paper weight and be done

    Trade show crap.

Simple little structure, lots of tedious welds. Built this in 2 days, and my superior was questioning me why it took so long. I told him he is more then welcome to show me how it's done when I'm not around.

My job is cool for the most part, as many hours as you want with OT after 8, creative freedom for the most part, most people in the company are good people, very little ego around, But, everything is last minute, and then you are questioned about how long things take. Pisses me off, fabricating when it's 110 out, stupid long hours, always get the job out the door on time, one man band in a company of over 100 people and to be question about what I am doing.
Wonder how they will deal with it if I start using my PTO when there are deadlines looming.
I average 15 to 25 hours of OT a week. 1 dude can only do so much .
How would you guys deal with a situation like this.IMG_20190717_072337.jpg KIMG0907.jpg

15-25 hours of OT when its during the week doesnt sound to bad at all! I never minded 10 hour days during the week when you have the weekend off.

But i totally understand how you feel with the "it takes how long!" BS. I used to help out at a friends machine shop.....well it was a side gig he did after his main job. Guy came into his shop to get a quote with a part he just needed one side faced flat. But it was an odd shape with curves and crap. The side he needed faced flat he had a tolerance of .005". Friend just looked at and said it would take a minimum of three hours. The customer flipped out. Thought he was getting ripped off, trying to call BS, ect. My buddy was actually cool with the guy and just told him to stop. Then started explaining how difficult the part was to secure to the mill. The fact he would probably have to make a custom fixture for it. All that sort of stuff. Shut the guy up quick. The guy then signed the bid without saying much else.

Which reminds me of a video Chuckee2009 did on running a welding business a long time ago (before he went all weird). Pretty much just said charge a minimum fee of like $150. Gets rid of the guys who bitch and moan about how cousin joe would do it for $20 bucks and crap.

on another note....applied for a new job. Not sure if id actually accept the position or not though.

Last pay period I had 138 for 2 weeks.
15 to 25 in a week is every week at minimum.
I don't mind OT, but I ain't no spring chicken anymore. I am not at the point where I want to work, eat, shower, sleep repeat every day, every week every month.
The powers that be will be getting a talking too.

I did 7 12's for like 3 months straight one project. Then another supervisor and I from another trade (who was in the same deal) worked a deal to pretty much do 13 on 1 day off. Did that for a 9 month project. Wasnt to bad for me as i was a supervisor so wasnt busting ass working. Made DAMN sure my employees were taken care of though. Thankfully I was able to rotate them so every other weekend they would get the whole weekend off...and just work 12s during the week.

And after all that...getting all work done on time or even early. And under budget. And doing additional work the Ship asked for. My thanks? Come home and get busted back to a mechanic. But man that was such good money. Being off station so per diem, plus all that OT. I couldnt spend the money lol
