Turning on the cab heat and fan full will give you emergency cooling, possibly avoiding a blown head gasket or other failure due to overheating.

4.0 is way better that the 3.5, dealer told me they couldnt duplicate the problem I told them that I have a 16 camry and hadn't had any problems and that its sad that my 38k truck cant handle heat. Shop foreman said well they are different cars, Im just opening a case with toyota hopefully they can help me.

Just had the same problem while driving through the Utah desert. Truck temp started climbing and the A/C went to sh%t. Took it to the dealership and the guy said it was totally normal. We were parked. As soon as we started moving the air got colder again and temps went down right away. This is an issue for me in CA where temps get hot and the traffic is a real problem. Any solutions instead of a bunch of dick measuring about the Pro model would be greatly appreciated.

If you have the TRD sport Inreccomend to make your hood scoop functional thats what Im gonna do so you have more airflow or when you are in traffic the heat from the engine can escape from the scoop

I had a similar issue on a civic years ago and it was the Thermostat.
Did not open enough at the proper temp.
Didn't fail completely though so I had gone through the list of other possibilities first, (trapped air, wrong antifreeze ratio, dirty rad, rad blocked inside etc).

I would clean out your radiator and check for coolant leaks. Ask dealer to inspect fan clutch, thermostat sticking closed and possible air in coolant system of defective water pump. If your going downhill, you can let the truck coast downhill in gear and turn on the heater and run the blower at full speed. When coasting, the Pistons function as air pumps pulling in and exhausting cooler ambient temperature air.
