This was not a total. Wife hit by a drunk driver that turned left against the light No total .....$16K to fix. The other party's insurance paid $16K++ to repair it. There aren't too many things a good body shop cannot repair. Have to say Geico was great. I have Allstate but the other party was Geico and they paid $1500 in diminished value and gave us a check for $2200 for a destroyed Taylor 414CE she was carrying in back.

The bed can shift too. Bed might be bumped out of alignment. To my vastly untrained eye, it doesn't look totaled.

But since it was hit front left corner and body was pushed left, then I cannot see how anything happened to the bed?

Usually total damages have to be more then 75% of current Book Value to total a vehicle. Also, Did your airbags go off??
Mine did, and mine STILL got repaired!

No, the airbags did not go off. I am glad they didn't. Probably would break by glasses and put a piece of lens through my brain.

Hell no not totaled, to an insurance co that will buff out.

These insurance adjusters know their business, if they say it's repairable then that's that, they have an eye for knowing what's busted underneath by looking on the outside.

I am just worried about that frame with the cab pushed over. I have seen bent frames before on cars and they were going down the road kinda sideways like a crab.

Not sure. Its not great for your insurance rates and its hell trying to negotiate a fair pay out, because total losses rarely ever pay out enough to put the insured on the upper hand.

Why is it that every time someone has an accident they think their vehicle is totaled?

By looking at the pics, I doubt it is totaled. Even if the frame is bent, it cant be straightened.

Insurance may still replace your SRS system in its entirety. If one wire, sensor, airbag, etc for the SRS system is damaged the whole thing will be replaced. Insurance companies don't want to be held liable for an airbag going off for no reason while you're driving 70+ MPH on the freeway because a wire had a cut in the insulation and became grounded to the chassis from vibration. That's usually a good way to total out vehicles these days because it's a lot to replace/change out. If you're looking for a reason to get it totalled, have the adjuster or the shop that works with the adjuster find something wrong with the SRS, if they haven't already factored that in to the price to fix.

My estimate was redone by the body shop instead of the rookie insurance adjustor. My "2nd opinion" came just now this morning and the body shop said the entire body on the frame has been moved an inch and the frame is bent, both sides. It is totalled.

He said you can tell that the body has moved and not the bed by this picture.

I guess now I got to get a new Tacoma....I looked on the Toyota.com and they have so many levels. SR, SR5, Sport, Off Road, Limited, PRO. Most of optioned out are all fairly close except for the PRO.

Has anyone had any good luck with the PRO?
