Looking for mods that will help with the steering performance and gas performance while I’m towing a 4500 pound trailer. Any suggestions?

define performance. power.......you'll need a supercharger or turbo. performance as in handling the weight im setup with a larger trans cooler, ultragauge to monitor temps, dakar leaf springs, e rated tires, brake controller, weight distribution system and i tow a 27ft travel trailer weighing 5-5500lbs. theres plenty of good threads on towing. Also if you're an auto done tow in D, use 4th or lower when needed

I’ll add to be ready to stop a lot for gas, I’m usually getting around 10-11mpg when towing. You’ll also need to accept that when going up hills you will be slowing and second gear will be screaming. Downshift when going down hills to keep your speed under control without smoking your brakes.

Didn’t really buy the truck for the trailer just kinda ended up that way. Plus I know and I’ve seen Tacoma’s can pull something like my trailer. I just want to be smart about it and make the right and smart adjustments for my truck

Everyone has there preferences. I feel as long as I stay in the factory recommendations and I add the correct mods to my truck for Saftey purposes and peace of mind I feel like it will be done and all saftey percussions are made

Weight distribution hitch and a decent brake controller first. Those two are vital. Consider the rest if you plan on pulling hills at 60 mph.

realistic you should tow in the 80% or lower of the tow rating. rated for 6500lbs you should be able to tow 5200 and under. so i don't think 4500lbs is unrealistic or unsafe. I also don't believe my 27ft weighing 5-5500 is unrealistic or unsafe. I have all the supporting mods and don't exceed the speed limit. never had an issue with high winds and she worked through the mountain in NH. Shes towed to Maine, NH, cape cod, Connecticut. Would a full size or HD be better, absolutely, but it's not needed. If im gonna pull 6500lbs and 30ft then obviously something needs to change. Your f350 has similar HP numbers to the tacoma and slightly more torque depending on diesel/gas, but is also a heavier vehicle and im sure a worse daily driver. Hence you have both. Not everybody can have both. I am hoping my wife's next vehicle is capable of towing (hopefully a ford expedition with a 9300lb rating) but mainly so i can mod the crap out of the taco and not care about towing anymore.
