I ordered a replica TRD Pro Grill for my ‘17 TRD Sport. Should I paint it before the install? Will the finish hold up over time or fade?

The paint will only be as good as the surface it’s bonded too... unless you plan on scuffing up the whole thing to promote adhesion leave it as is you’ll be much happier. Good luck

Here is a picture of my China Grille i bought and installed about a year and a half ago (installed since Jan 2018). I didnt pre-paint it or clear coated it prior to install but I use Aerospace 303 every couple months on it. My truck was parked in full Hawaiian sun every day and it still looks like new. At the time, i could buy 3-4 china grills for the same price as a OEM so I figured if it faded, i would just replace it.9296240B-B0E0-4E3B-A01E-C74FCC5694C6.jpg

I'm on Oahu as well! How much were you able to get your grill for?

That’s true - I would do some prep if I painted it.

It still looks good. I’ll read up on Aerospace 303 I’m not familiar with it. Thanks for the info.

I will use some gorilla glue on them. I’ve heard they tend to fall off.

That looks really good with your silver color. Mine is Blazin Blue - might be too much blue. I thought about black though maybe even gloss black.

It is already black...maybe just do the letters blue, but i think if you did what i did, it would rock. Looks good on any color

Its good stuff. Water based and i use it on every black plastic on my truck, running boards, tonneau cover, bed caps, rear bumper, front valance and cowl by wipers. What is nice about it is i have it on the plastic caps on the running boards and they are not slippery when stepping on them getting in and out of the truck, even right after application.
