    Hello everyone,

I should have started here first and introduced myself but I have been lurking TW for a little bit now.

The reason I joined TW is because I am thinking about buying a 2020 Tacoma. I love Toyota because of it's reliability. I have a 2002 Lexus GS300 and a 2005 Scion tC and they have treated me very well. Next on the list is a new 2020 Tacoma.

The reason why I want a Tacoma is of course the reliability of Toyota. Also, I got stationed in Virginia and wanted something reliable in the snow. My cars are currently lowered and I figured they would be a snow plow by the end of the day plus a 4x4 would help me travel a lot better. Everyone tells me my cars are good enough but I came from San Diego where it's always sunny and barely rains so I figured a Tacoma would be the best reliable thing out there. There are plenty of reasons why I want a Taco but those are just a few...

Now that I am set on a brand new Taco, I would like some guidance moving forward... I am thinking of getting it in voodoo blue but still deciding if I should get the sport or off road.

Also, I would like some advice on wheel set up. The volk TE37xt's look nice (thinking about 16x?) and would like some advice of what size to run on wheels and tires but concerned about rubbing. I've noticed that a lot of trucks here in TW are lifted and I am currently not considering lifting my truck. Growing up in Cali, I've seen lots of lowered old school Tacos but haven't seen any new generations that are lowered.

Anyways, that's my intro and my plan. Apologize for the long post but I would greatly appreciate any guidance moving forward especially since I have never owned a truck.

    Welcome!

You chose a great platform (And forum).

You mentioned being stationed in VA. If you are military, then thank you for your service.

I would choose the model before worrying about wheels/tires.

Do you plan on going off road- more than just a logging road? Think you need a rear locker? The OR does ride a bit smoother than the sport. The sport rides a bit tighter.

Best thing you can do is test drive both. Preferably test drive overnight so you can get a good feel of the trucks.

Just some thoughts. You would probably love both trucks lol

Thank you for the warm welcome, and thank you for your support (Go Navy!).

I don't plan on going off road at all and not sure if I need a rear locker. I hear snow isn't that bad in VA but if it helps a lot then why not. I figured why not just get the OR and get the extra features. I also forgot to mention that that Taco will be my new daily once I get it.

I probably will love both trucks but I don't want to buy both lol.

Welcome to TW and I just sold my 12th Toyota truck and they never let me down .... good luck with your 2020.

PS ... I started out in the Navy and later transferred to the USMC ... always liked the Navy and that area in VA.

Glad to hear all your trucks treated you well.

I was raised gator Navy so we deployed with Marines onboard. I'm assuming you enlisted in the Navy then got a commission to fly ospreys? Rah!
