    I think they're ugly, though I guess they're useful for stepping up into your truck...
    I have "nerf bars", they came on my truck... I use them to step up into my truck, so
    they're handy... but I think they're ugly too. You could step up onto real sliders, which
    I don't think are ugly, but if you don't "overland" they might be kind of expensive and poser-like...

    What makes you ask about taking them off or leaving them on? Do you get any use out of them?
