After the last couple weeks I need me some time in the woods.

Thinking about Aztec peak next weekend, either maybe a day trip or if possible camp near the top. How's the road up there?

Haven’t been out that way since last year but I’ve been having an itch to get back out in the Sierra Ancha. Beautiful country out there. Been trying to figure out how to get out to Aztec and peak bag it, but got sidetracked with other local peaks.

Someone asked 37pages back about the Ring alarm system. I finally installed one for my In-Laws yesterday.

This was a full install of:
    Doorbell
    Floodlight camera
    Alarm system
    1 extra motion sensor
    3 extra door sensors

From downloading the App and setting up user accounts to setting motion zones and testing it took 4 hours.

It was super easy, everything worked as expected, however I am a little disappointed in the motion sensors, they are not as robust as the rest of the Ring products.

Motion sensors recommended being mounted 7’ from the ground. We found mounting anything above that significantly decreased their performance. We found that mounting them at 6’ gave us the best results.

We didn’t have to use the supplied range extender, only because they have a nice router that covers the whole house.

The siren is very loud and annoying, which is good.

The best part of the Ring system is you can mount the base and keypad anywhere independently from one another although they do need to be close to an outlet for power.

You can arm/disarm the system from your mobile device so you never have to use the keypad. Every user has their own code for the keypad and you also set up “guest” codes for the keypad. This is so that everyone who enters their code you get a notification on who enter the code and if they armed or disarmed the system. Of course you get notifications for any sensors that were activated also door, motion or camera.

So would I recommend, yes if you don’t have an alarm system, this one is easy to install and operate. We might even replace our existing one when we renovate the kitchen.

My mil works for Ring and is always talking good about them. They are now owned by Amazon which she says changed quite a bit for the good.

Home now, wife started spitting out a lot of blood in a short period of time. Guessing she spit up about 1/2 to 3/4 of a liter in about 5-10 minutes or less. She ended up spitting up a big clot in the ambulance on the way to the ER. All is good the bleed stopped after she coughed up the clot.

Anyone know how to get blood out of carpet? I'd like our bedroom to not look like a murder scene.

Who would have thought getting your tonsils removed as an adult was so damn tough. This has been a brutal recovery and we've both seen our fair share of surgeries
