06 Tacoma. Dealer replaced secondary air injection pump for $1400 and now the Check Engine light is back on with a P0500 code. I had been driving the truck for almost a year with the light on and it was running fine. Speedometer works, cruise control works. Took it in for routine service and they said it was also returning P2441 & P2445 & P0500 codes & replaced the whole air pump. They reset the codes and the light stayed off for 2 days. Now it appears that the P0500 problem may be a glitch in the speedometer cluster wiring which could cost another $500 to replace. As long as the truck is running OK I may not bother. This leads me to believe there was really no problem with the secondary air injection system at all or the truck would have gone into limp mode.

I have an 06 with the v6 and there is no secondary air injection pump. You got the 4 or 6 cylinder engine?

Was the air pump added in 2012 or am I thinking of something else?
