You're in Texas? If that's the case you would know if it's vinyl. It would easily come up with a fingernail due to the temps. It must be painted. Stange...

    Agreed
It looks like I’m going to need something to strip them off. I’ve seen videos of people using lacquer to remove paint but im a little nervous. I think I’ll give that a shot. If that’s the case I’m assuming it’ll have to be waxed after?

I used soapy water and a plastic scrapper like below went pretty quick no scratches. Let it sit in the sun for a bit before starting.

I would research the hell out of it first. And as far as waxing after, yes. You prolly don't want that shit hanging around on your paint.

Also, not sure what it may do to your clear coat. Be careful.

    Small update
After talking to a buddy I just used some 70% rubbing alcohol from the first aid and cleaned off the small piece of pin stripe behind the bed decal. The silver line came off instantly. The darker gray line was a little harder to get off but not too bad.
However my truck is a 2016 and the paint has faded a bit so there’s a faint line where the paint was.

There was no visible damage to the clear coat so I’m going to continue this over the whole truck.

Finally got it all off
    Before
    A70849C2-080F-4977-974E-A5B6609A9F4B.jpg
    And after
    A7C80B6A-A276-4AE2-94B2-B542471C80A1.jpg
Just used rubbing alcohol, a micro fiber cloth
And a LOT of elbow grease.
The ghost line is visible on the bed but not really on the doors or fenders :notsure:
Whatever I’m happy with the outcome. Just wish I’d done it sooner.

I'm shocked that it was actually paint. I didn't know anyone still painted pinstripes anymore. I think the noticeable line will go away after a few months of washes and being in the sun. Not sure if you have already done so, but it would be a good idea to at the very least put on a coat of wax or sealant. Better yet clay the truck and polish the stripe area and any other spots needing polish. Then wipe it all down and wax or seal.
I'm glad if came off finally, sounds like it took more effort than expected.

I know right!? I still haven’t had anyone else mention theirs being painted on. Seems weird.
Also YES it took about 3 and a half hours to remove all the paint.
I’ve since waxed it but I’m clay barring and buffing the whole truck when I find the time. It needs it lol

I never thought I’d thank GOD for a Deathdealer, but the day has arrived.
So glad right now that you posted your problem and solution on here.

I have a 2017 Sport that’s MGM just like yours. I’ve only had it 2 weeks, but every day I have been daydreaming about pulling those SAME... EXACT... lamestipes off.

Idk who did it or what they were thinking.

Anyway, today... finally no rain. It was the big day.
Even with a heat gun, I made -0- headway.
So, I go to the local AutoZone and ask them if they think the stripes are like... IN the clear coat or something.
Another customer overhead me. He walked outside and took one scratch at them and said, “They’re paint.”
I was like, “Paint?” “Nooooooooooo!! You can’t be cereal!”
“Oh yes... I’m cereal,” he said.
“Well how do I get them off? There’s gotta be a way!” I yelled.
“There is... you will need to sand them off and repaint the truck,” he said, and slithered off.
I stood there briefly contemplating... "vinyl wrap? suicide? Suicide by vinyl wrap?"

Then, on my drive home it hit me, “Surely... someone ELSE had this problem.”
I had to dig a while, but I found you!
Thanks so much! I’ll post some before and after pics later.
    My taco needs rehab.
    Now... where’s my alcohol...
