Fridge is in! This time I can actually use my ARB slide! Can open the fridge inside and outside the camper now. Also makes cleaning the fridge a whole lot easier! Also have another battery from the previous Flip-Pac owner and I'm thinking about mounting it behind the fridge on the slide. Everything clears just perfectly! No more fridge bouncing around the back of the truck! Also fridge vents right next to the window so hopefully that will help keep the heat and power usage down.

i can always roll it and clutch start it?
does that still work these days
my 79 Corolla long time ago I had to clutch start a few times on the roll, that was fun!!!

but i will also have to disobey the warnings at the pump to turn engine off
and how does one change the oil with engine still running!
what mess did i get myself into this time...

 

DRL Delete

Alrighty guys, I’ve searched and found little more than confusion on this topic. I need help from the pros here. I have a 2003 that I want to delete my day time running lights. Anyone know exactly which wire to cut for sure? Anyone have access to the wiring schematic for the ‘03 DRL relay. This is what I have under the dash.

 

Love the new sleeping area and headroom the Flip-Pac provides. I loved my RTT but this is a huge improvement! New sheets!

 

Was needing a new intake tube to install my meth injection kit in and ended up copying @mechanicjon pretty much exactly lol. Costed me about $70 as the cheapest aluminum tube i could find was $30. Overall I think it looks really clean and was cheaper than all the expensive plastic ones.

 

I got the wiring diagram from TIS. cut the green/white wire. It’s the parking brake switch. I did this with my 2000, but I put a switch in instead of cutting it

Here’s what I did.

 

battling 84% humidity today trying to clean the yuck muck from under battery tray compartment from WI gravel adventure nearly 7wks ago that caked in all spots it seems
hosed it out and water just not evaporating so well so fast
white plastic tray looks in good shape and fit right back into its proper place
battery is 4 1/2 years old so probably has a few years left if the previous batteries lifespan holds gospel
it really stinks that the custom aluminum hold down will not fit the OEM rod exact even after making the hole bigger to fit at last weeks mod day

 

Took it camping on the mountain, caught some bears and I turned 21 so I’m sure you can imagine how that went.

 

Since you've got a 1st gen, let me know what you decide to do for water heating.

I need to test my own setup out which I will when I clean/wash/grease my leaf springs.

 

first time i can say i have ever seen under the battery and tray, first time I have ever needed to remove it
not that bad of shape for its age and weather under there
it does not appear I can make the rod hook area (under fuse box) any larger to fit the oem hook on the custom hold down

 

Alright, final weekend project. No more bugs!!!

Ok for those following along, the blow information will not disable DRL on a 2003 Double Cab Tacoma. The information below will instead allow the DRL to be on even when the parking brake in set.

I’ll take the blame for the error. What I am looking for is which wire to cut to completely disable the DRL. I don’t want them on at all (Parked, In Drive etc.)

 

Add red interior lights. Bugs can't see the wavelength as much

 

Took the truck out for a shake down drive. Went up Mt Lemmon here in Tucson and walked around at the top. Nice and cool up there compared to down in the city area, about 30 degrees difference. Truck ran great, maybe a little smoother than before but not a huge difference. Still have the occasional hard start issue when it's hot but it seems to be getting better. No visible leaks around the valve covers which is also a good thing.

Took the roads less traveled going back down the back side of Lemmon, all graded, non-maintained roads. Good to be back in the dirt again. Found a few spots that look like good camping spots for future trips.



Incredible views from the top of Mt Lemmon, too bad there was so much cloud cover at the time.



Neat little observatory at the top as well. Locked gates kept people from doing further exploring.





No cloud cover on the backside of the mountain, giving spectacular views looking east.
