About a month ago I started researching the 2019 Taco OR. I read a lot of good information on this forum as well as getting private messages plus comments to the threat I started. I needed a place for my 10 yr old bloodhound to ride, so it was looking more and more like the Dbl Cab and the short bed. The more I looked at that bed the smaller it seemed to get.

This would be my first Tacoma and I don't use a truck bed a lot but have in the past with an older Chevy 8' bed. I would have put a cap on it but found out the more businesses I called locally that installed the A.R.E caps, their lead times went from 2-3 weeks to 4-6 weeks. At that time I was planning to move within 2 weeks.

Then someone here suggested I look at the 4Runner. I was familiar with that since I had started with a 1977, bought a new 1991, later bought a used 2000 (best ever) and later the 2006. Once they changed to the van frame and a different ride in the 2006, I traded that soon after I bought it and never looked at a 4Runner again until a few weeks ago.

I test drove both. I liked both rides but could tell the difference in the 4Runner. Last week while at my recycling center a new Taco OR pulled in behind me and I talked to him about my decision, which one to buy. He commented that he had a hard problem fitting two adults in the back of the double cab. I thought about that.

I ended up buying the 2019 4Runner OR Premium model and love it. After I move to Arizona in a week or so, IF I find out I need a truck sometime, I'll pick up an older Taco to use, maybe one with an access cab and longer bed.

Thanks for all the information you provided me. It helped in making a decision.

Enjoy the runner. Arizona is awesome if you're even only moderately outdoorsy, and you won't run out of places to take it. One of the most fun things you can do is get a cattle road map and follow those around.

Note - if the road isn't on the cattle map, don't drive it. It's a long walk back to civilization when your brother breaks his Jeep.

    Glad you found something OP.
I love the T4R. I have a few family members who have one, trying to nudge my GF to get one.

    None....yet.
Wow. What size adults does this dude carry around?! If you cant fit 2 people in the back of a double cab, they should definitely be walking anyway.

Just buy a small utility trailer, then you won't need a truck bed.
