So. I tested my vhf/UHF ham antenna on the gmrs frequencies. The highest my SWR meter showed was 1.3:1

I'm going to check with some of the guys on the ham forum to see if they have any input on the matter. It seems like it'll work OK, but my Meter is obviously inferior to some of these guys who have $800+ meters.

I'm also going to ask about modifying an antenna. In theory you should just be able to shorten one until it's at the frequency range you want. It's just a matter of asking about the proper way to go about it.

I'll get back to you when I have some concrete stuff. Just wanted to give you an update

 

Have you used it yet? I'm super excited those are coming more popular. I think they're great.

Yes, I have used it and it works great. Just don't like the antenna situation. I like the controls on the mic's as both my radios are mounted under my seat out of the way.

Wasn’t going to start the job hunt until December/January when my current projects are implemented, but the recruiter contacted me so

Not yet, tracking says out for delivery though. UPS usually arrives late in my neighborhood though.
