    I'm sorry if this has been asked before as I tried doing a search an maybe I didn't word it write but I didn't see anything on it. I was just wondering I see a lot of members choose the OME coil springs over the headstrong springs. My question is there a huge difference between quality on these or is this one of those things where we are paying for a name vs actual performance? Is there any significant ride quality change with one over the other?

    I don't think Headstrong has their own brand of coil springs. They do have an add-a-leaf spring though.

    I stand corrected then! I didn't know HS had their own branded coils, I always thought they used OME coils. Learn something new everyday!

    We sure do and have been selling them for a few years now. We just don't try to push our own brand and instead just tell people to buy what they are comfortable with. Most know the OME coils and so this is the coils they tend to go with.

    With our coils we spent a lot of time setting specifications and the tolerances for each are tight compared to other brands. Its the little things like the bow, grind, and load at height spec we set in addition to a tight free length specification that we feel makes our coils stand apart. We have a 2", 2.5" and a 3" designed for weight and all are specifically designed for the 2nd Gen Tacomas. Right now we only list our 2 and 2.5" coils.

    Will the HS coils settle like the OME ones? I'm not running any bumpers, but do have sliders and will be getting a full skid set. I've read here that some folks have had up to a whole inch of settling over time with the OME coils. I'd like to choose the coil that won't settle so much over time.

    @cubie

    Matt here

    Coils will settle over time, that's just going to happen. That said where the material is coming from could in fact influence product degradation. With certain brands we have seen this settling more then others and I'm inclined to think this could be the case with maybe one particular brand. With the spring manufacturer we work with they are well aware of where certain brands get their material and with the product testing that they have done we feel pretty good about the way our coils hold up. Through processing each coil does go through a rigorous preset phase which helps to condition the coils and will determine the final free length, which is an inspection done during manufacturing and is now an in-house inspection done here before we sell each set of our coil. To be clear our coils are in fact made here in California, but the material is sourced outside the US.

    I know this doesn't specifically answer your question, but its really a difficult to answer it without saying one brand is better than another.

    Any plans for hs coils for the 3rd gen?

    Its a project on our list for sure, just too many other items ahead of it right now. We have run our current coils on 4Runners though and we loved the ride.

    Thanks for the explanation Matt! Just trying to read up on the many different coils out there and finding some that will suit my needs the best.
