It’s not actually that impressive. But for a minute there everyone was talking built engines with sleeves and the fact is, they can be very expensive. To keep my numbers straight, I kept track if a couple different built engine paths.

Playing catch up in this thread but this question is worthy of going back in time to me. While in Havasu did you stop at College Street and have a Big Blue Van? One of my all time favorite beers! And they won't buy the license to sell out of state so I have to have my parents bring back cans or go visit my grandpa to have one at the brewery. Which is all worth it, but I never get time for that kind of a vacation. Once in 12 years now. I work too much. LOL

Sounds like something I should try. I just remember the Turtle Bar down there. Good memories for sure.

Just my opinion, but id pass on that mod if you live in a hot environment. I've heard that the over sized reservoir is best if you do lots of small trips. IE you wont get much benefit if you travel long distances, the fluid will retain more heat since theres more of it, but the heat exchanger in the grille is still the same size. The smaller reservoir allows a better heat exchange for longer trips without getting heat soaked. To each is own, but thats just my thoughts on it

They completely change the handling and the ride of the rear of the truck. I have been nothing but impressed with them. I did also get his build greasable shackles just because I wanted more beef in the shackle as well. As for the install, it was super easy for me. I just grinded down the rivet head with my 4" angle grinder and then used a air hammer to knock them out. With lots of bullshitting and drinking I had it done in 5 hours with two people. That way one could work and one could drink at all times. But well worth the money and yes the customer service is excellent!

And not that anyone truly cares, but I am caught back up and have ready every post in this thread still. @henryp , I believe I know exactly what shop your talking about as I am an avid supporter of XO and know who does their mechanical work. Sorry to hear about the engine, that really does suck!

Also speak to me people, I am contemplating getting rid of the tacoma for a tundra. I can't have both and I really do love this truck but at the same time for all the money and time I have put into it to tow my 7500lb camper, I really feel like I should let someone else take advantage of the build that doesn't need it to tow and just put 35's on it and wheel the piss out of it and be respectably quick for heavy built truck. I know a tundra would be nothing for the camper to tow. But a new truck would be a new build and would it really get me anywhere other than into another build. Talk some sense into me.

The tundra will be nice initially but come on, if you are in this thread I know you are a modder at heart and you won’t leave that poor tundra alone. I am sure you may end up with the supercharger and then the rabbit hole for that supercharger and how much further you can go.

I cannot say I blame you though, Last year I almost traded my taco in for a tundra just because my AC was pissing me off. Think of how nimble your truck can be when you don’t have your trailer. What stopped me was buying a car faster than my truck and driving that for a few weeks. When I got back in my tacoma I re fell in love with it. Suddenly I remembered all the reasons I like these trucks so much.

Either way if you get a tundra or keep the tacoma you cannot go wrong. Both are great trucks with different uses. Keep in mind all the $$ you’ve put into the taco still isn’t gonna help your resale that much unless you find the right person. Most people prefer to buy an unmodded vehicle in my experience.

I have found this to be pretty accurate with my larger tank. Most of my trips are short so I mostly see benefits from it.

I am however building a heat shield around mine to see if it helps for longer trips when the fluid gets hotter.

I agree. Replacing the coolant for distilled water works great too in those hot summer months

Here’s my new tundra. Finally got it lifted with 295/65r20. About a 35.5” tall. Waiting for headers to show up... but I still got the xrunner as my fun truck. :burnrubber:
