Hey guys, I’m looking for some info to help a buddy. 98 4cyl 4x4. He just replaced all the ujoints in the front and rear shafts. The issue is now when 4wd is engaged, it binds up in the front. I’m assuming something was re installed incorrectly, but I can’t think of what it may be. Any ideas?

Binds up in the front meaning the differential ??

If the front drive shaft was removed to be rebuilt it should not cause any binding .

Does this Truck have a Solid Front axle and the front Axles were removed??

IFS were the CV axles removed??

Just replacing U-joints should not cause any binding

Correct, the front diff. The only things removed were the front and rear shaft. IFS up front. Does that front shaft need to be set in line with the rear? I’m at a loss here as to what’s going on. I haven’t gotten a chance to look at it myself yet.

From what he tells me, it was in a straight line on pavement at under 5mph. No turns. He said it locked up and skipped the front tires. Just seems really weird to me. I can’t think of what would cause that. Even on pavement, that shouldn’t be happening in a straight line.
