I found it to be.... Ugly.

"Ugly" is an understatement. It's more like eye rape.

 

That is called a JK-8 (there is a kit for that).

 

Friend of mine has the Rubicon Gladiator. Lots of push button features. You can configure them to look ok. But I’d rather spend $50k+ differently.

 

Ever spent a couple hours with sweaty motocross boots in the back of your SUV? A hermetically sealed cargo area is a godsend some days

But yeah, that thing is brutally ugly

 

I’ve seen a thing or two driving around, I’ve also seen some Volkswagens driving around too

 

With the right wheels and paint color I think it looks decent. Maybe "fun" is a better way to describe how it looks... Bigger problem with this thing is the outrageous price point and Jeep quality.

I like the off road capability, interior design and short bed sides.

 

Yeah, the two door concept does look better; I’m not digging the four door either. I guess folks who want the gladiator are previous Jeep owners or enjoy the option of having a truck bed and still be able to take the top off and the doors off (which is kinda cool being in California).

 

They got all the way through the design process and someone said, uh the backup camera is mandatory. So they stuck it on like a command hook and called it good

 

Since I began researching new trucks in the mid size segment and purchased my Tacoma I'm a lot more aware of what is on the road and pay attention to what people are driving. So far this is my Tally

3rd Gen Tacomas: Way too freaking many to count. I see 7 to 10 a day. various colors, various models
Chevy Colorado: I've seen 20-30 over the last couple months. Someone in my work complex has a zr2
Nissan pathfinder: I see a couple a day. No idea what year though. Could be 2019. Could be a 2009
GMC Canyon: I have seen 2. One of them was on the back of a tow truck.
Honda ridge line: 5 or 6. Most of them are black.
Jeep gladiator: I have seen 3 in the last week
2019 Ford Ranger: Zip, Zilch, NADA

 

There was a Rubicon trimmed one out at the dunes this weekend. The lesser models look like the kid that got beat up in HS, but the rubicon would make me think about it if I was looking for a new vehicle. That FCA origin makes me stay away though.

That and the wheeeeeeeeel base

 

Goddamnit that thing is hideous.

3” lift, 40’s, re gear, lots of armor. That is what it needs, and a different parent company.....
