Yeah I still would use it if I were looking at a preowned vehicle :D

The problem of them putting a red flag on my truck when there wasnt a real issue was pretty frustrating though!

Probably so. It's a 2018 Porsche 911, not a daily driver but not a weekend only car either. It's bound to get a ding here or there down the road. Just not now!! Attached is a pic. (black circled) Really hard to see because of the glare & reflection.

    OUCH!!

My wife has a silver 16 RAV4, I wish it was your color.

5 or so years ago my Tacoma was sideswiped in a big parking lot. I did not notice it till the next day. Passenger door, front fender, & headlight were damaged. I forgot which part of my insurance covered it, however I paid a $250 deductible. No rate increase & no Carfax.

My 2006 Highlander AWD was hit in '08 - $14K worth of front end damage. Accident was reported to PD and insurance fixed it. Guess what? Nothing about it on CARFAX!!! Paid $25 to check my VIN before I got rid of it and there was no mention of the accident/damage at all. CARFAX isn't very reliable IMHO!

I think it varies by state. In Texas they seem to report everything.

Carfax is a joke! My previous truck was a 2005 F150. Bought it new. When I put it up for sale I ran a Carfax. Carfax showed a 2016 report of frame damage. WTF! Truck was never in an accident. Long battle with Carfax. Most people would have given up. Finally got the entry removed. My best guess is that a local tire shop or their backend software made an incorrect entry. Carfax would not tell me. Other than a dealer, I will not take my vehicle to a repair shop that interfaces with Carfax. Lesson learned.

i suppose the experian autocheck report that I had run on my 1st truck is different than Carfax?

it shows the manufacture date shipped to dealer
odometer reading from when I took over title from a dealer vehicle
then the mileage when I traded in and odometer reading
the 2nd person that owned it drove it a lot more than I did in 2yrs lol
3rd owner put 190k on it in almost 5 years in a rural part of the state
fast forward to 2oo4, which is the last entry for title/registration event and mileage of 238k and no more info for the past 15yrs :notsure:

there was a manufacturer recall 50N-331 safety recall in Sept-2oo5 and all info stops after...

Toyota is recalling 1990-1995 4Runner, 1990-1995 pickup, and 1993-1998 Toyota T100 trucks because the steering relay rod may crack under stress. This may increase the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the steering relay rod.

Dealerships report to carfax as well. My wife’s Honda got a scrape from a shopping cart on the passengers side door of her Crosstour. The dealership body shop was able to fix it for $75, so there was nothing more than her debit card involved. It now shows up on the carfax as a minor accident.

It takes a month or so, and yes it reported on
    Carfax
Is causes diminished value to your car, but if not your fault u ask other parties insurance to pay out for it. Never report minor damages. I rather eat it then my rates getting jacked up

I had a 2009 Highlander that incurred 13K worth of damage in a reported accident. When I checked Carfax before I returned the leased vehicle a year later (to see what I might be liable for) the report showed zilch, zip, nada, nothing about the accident. I put very little stock in those reports.

If a vehicle is considered a "total loss" the insurance company sells the wreck to a salvage yard. If the Salvage yard sell the car to someone who puts it back together, then they can apply for a new title. The DMV will issue the title but because the car was totaled, the new title would be a salvage title and that would show on the car fax. I've seen cars with salvage titles that people have driven for years. Good luck trying to trade it in and some insurance companies won't insure it. People always worry about cars from hurricane areas thinking that they might be flood cars. A person with a fairly new car would have full coverage insurance. If the car was washed away in a flood then of course they would call the insurance company. Cars like that could end up with a salvage title but chances of them ending up at a reputable dealer would be slim.
