    Hey Taco peeps......
I have a long box with a tool box and a rtt. I wanted to add roof racks with some kayak clamps to carry my kayaks when needed. I was thinking factory roof racks and adding the kayak clamps. I think the toyota racks are good for up to 100lbs. About 2 kayaks.
I found someone selling a new take off roof rack for a good price.
Any suggestions on alternative affordable options?
I do not want a roof basket.
    Thanks.

Those are all nice but start around $700 Can lol
Pricey to get my kayaks to the lake lol.
I could probably taxi back and forth for many years for that price point lol

I picked up a knock off on eBay for about $115. It had good ratings. I had no issues; the quality is good and it looks identical to the OEM version. It is all metal (not plastic) and the price was right.

The OEM rack is an overpriced POS. I got one just for looks cause it looks pretty cool. I’ve seen some guys using it to haul some kayaks without issue. Get a Thule bed bar thing to support the kayak from the back.

Technically, it can be removed, hence the person you may buy the take-off from. Not sure why you'd want to remove it, tho. If you did remove it, you would just need to seal the holes really well to prevent water from pouring inside your truck... I purchased and installed an OEM roof rack. It hauls my kayaks without issue. I keep my crossbars open at all times & added an Inno wind fairing to help reduce the noise. It's not bad at all & works perfectly for my needs.

Ok let me rephrase. You have to punture through the membrane to install. You can install another brand or whatever but if no rack is installed you will have water in your cab

Incorrect. It is possible to seal holes in just about anything.

I kept my strips. I am confident I could reseal the holes and remove the rack, if needed.
