So I decided I needed mud flaps (splash guards) for my new'ish truck; did not like sound of gravel being thrown out of tire tread and hitting truck. Went to WeatherTech website to order and could not figure out which ones I needed (wheel flair or not) so I decided to find an "Authorized" dealer. Local Toyota is listed as "Authorized" dealer, but when I went there I was told they only had "Toyota" OEM. Called WeatherTech as I was leaving and they said South Coast Toyota in Costa Mesa was closest; when I said I just left there, they suggested another "Authorized" dealer in the area; a place called "RacknRoad". Went there, and employee came out to look at truck and after giving him year and model, I placed order for mud flaps.

Got call yesterday that the mud flaps had arrived. Drove down today and picked up two sets of mud flaps; front and rear. And, as any 64 year old male child would do, I went home, changed close and got ready to put these puppies on my truck. Low and behold they didn't fit. Seems that the "Authorized" dealer, or at least the young man assisting me, also did not know (and could not determine) what the difference was between the "flaired" and "non-flaired" wheel well models.

Well I immediately returned to the "Authorized" dealer to return the mud flaps (and order the other ones). I was told there would be a 20% restocking fee; I was not happy. The young man at the counter, after verifying the flaps did indeed not fit processed a return (for store credit) and ordered another set of mud flaps. He did have some sympathy and lowered the charge to 10% for re-stocking.

Will have to thick twice before ordering WeatherTech vs Manufacturer accessories in the future from "Authorized" dealers when not even they can determine correct fitment. Will have to wait to see if replacement mud flaps fit correctly; if they do not, I will be even more angry If I have to pay another restocking fee.........

I've had the same issue at the dealer parts department. If the part is questionable, and you want it right the first time, best do the research yourself.

The same thing happened to me two years ago with my 2017 SR.I called WeatherTech and they sent me the grommets free.

Okay. Maybe a stupid question but how do I know if I need the grommets? Mine is a 2020 SR with no factory fender flairs. so I believe it is 110056 and 120056. But where do you put the grommet?

Look for a hole in the rocker panel just behind the front wheel well. If it doesn't have a plastic grommet to accept a screw, you'll need it.

Is there a better way to determine if my SR has factory flares or no? The "Yes/No" option on the Weathertech site is not super helpful.

If it looks like mine, it's a non-flared version.

After getting the wrong rear flaps twice, I sent everything back to weathertech. I'll just use OEM flaps. I think the dealer can get the right parts.

The factory parts are only available for the version with fender flares. I have the WeatherTech mud guards on my non-flared SR, and they look OEM. It's the only option I know of if you want a factory look.

Just wanted to get y'all's expert eyes on this. Do I have the non-flare? (Sorry, don't really know what I'm looking for here)

I wrote this on another thread. I purchased Weathertech mudflaps for my 2020 Tacoma SR WITHOUT wheel well moldings. Kit 110056 and 120056. They fit perfect. My truck had the grommet in the inner fender well for the screw. I like the mud flaps.
