The driver side of my 09 Tacoma can only be locked or unlocked with the key. The remote works on the passenger door. The remote does activate the driver door inside lock.
I think it's a mechanical issue with the latch mechanism. Any suggestions?

    Welcome.
Do you hear anything in the drivers door when you push the buttons? If so, maybe some linkage fell off. Either that or the lock solenoid burnt out. If you have a meter, check for voltage going to the solenoid.
I haven't had to deal with it yet, so....

I had the door lock actuator go in my door years ago. I’d hit the lock button. Blinkers would flash and everything would seem normal but driver door wouldn’t lock. New actuator fixed my issue.

I would put money on the $10 motor thats in the actuator. My driver rear door went on mine. I ended finding a re built one on Ebay for $60 bucks. You send your old one back to get a lifetime warranty

Just get the best rated actuator on ebay or Amazon for about 30 bucks. Takes 20-40 minutes to change. Did my sons on his 15 4R.
