I have 265/70/17s on 17x8 with 0 offset wheels. Right now I have 4 of these and my spare is the factory. I couldn't justify getting a 5th wheel and tire being that the other four are basically the same size. These are my daily drivers.

I'm considering getting 285/75/17s and putting them on 17x9s and getting all 5 this time for off-road use.
I would keep my current setup and only use the off-road set a couple times per month. Possibly just swapping over to the off-road set after I put 40k miles on the 265s.

If I off-road twice a month is it overkill to be running a DD set AND off-roading set? Also, would it be bad to have my off-road set just sitting in a covered area for weeks at a time?

Would love advice from those of you running two sets and those who have considered/looked into running both.

It depends on how far you drive daily, if you actually need that size off-road and what your time is worth doing all that tire swapping.

I would probably just find a happy median and go with them full time.
