Does anyone have an ideal setup for the following..

    2019 Tacoma trd offroad shortbed

I currently have a prinsu cabrack.

My goal is to be able to to haul 2 kayaks and a rooftop tent ..

My concern is what size bed rack should I get to accommodate a tent and still have clearance for kayaks mounted on the prinsu. Any ideas ?

I don’t think you can reasonable fit a tent and two kayaks. But I’d love for you to prove me wrong. Only think I can think of is staking the kayaks on top of the tent but to me that is beyond reasonable/safe.

If the kayaks are small and light enough maybe fab up something that will allow them to hang off the side?

Why would it be unsafe to have the kayaks on top of the tent? Lay some foam down so the kayaks clear the ladder and strap them down. That is my plan when I move my RTT over to my C4 Fab mid height bars. Should just clear the roof rack. If not, I will use the roof rack.

I've put boats on top of my tent. No big deal, just ratchet them down

With that being said, a tent + kayaks on your roof is going to suck with wind resistance, noise, and body sway (Ask me how I know). But it will work

Just seem like common sense to me but to each his own.

Look for a bed rack that list the top of the RTT as being flush with roof line. Which will probably limit you to bed bars, not a bedrack. The C4 Fab bars are 10" and put the RTT above the roof rack. So I imagine you need something that is only 6" or so off the bedsides. Unless you have a hardshell tent which tends to be lower, or using using a carrier that lifts it up enough off the roof rack to clear.

I had a custom bed rack fab'd up that has 9" of lift off of the bed rails. I have a prinsu and I just clear the top of my smittybilt RTT with the cab rack. I'll try to get a pic later.

I think the KB Voodoo Hi Rise bed bars are low enough that you could put the kayaks on teh prinsu over the top of a RTT on the bed bars. Plus, if you used j-bars for the kayaks, the curve of the kayaks on their side would give you even more room (maybe even enough to have a mid-height bed bar system).

I doubt you'll be able to open the RTT with kayaks on the truck.

Edit: I think people are misreading your question. You want a RTT on a bed rack system, kayaks on the roof rack, and are asking which bed bars will work, right?

Thank you for all of the replys.. what I kinda Invisioned is 1 or 2 12ft kayaks on top of the roof rack. Which will hang over the bed several feet. I would probably need a bed rack short enough for the tent to sandwich between the rack and the kayaks.

I’d set up a spacer bar that you can temporarily put on the bed rack to level the kayaks when using the RTT, then take it off if you don’t have the RTT mounted.

I have the same issue with my ARE MX shell, and have leveled it by putting a carrier on top of the shell when using the RTT. But we ended up not using that for the kayaks we got unless it’s just a short haul like from takeout back to camp. We got 2 double 18-footers that I can carry in the bed (Folbots).

If you are using Tupperware kayaks, I’d think leveling isnt as critical as it would be for mine.

Think your best bet is to run some bed bars - KB Voodoo and Mobtown Offroad sell some that are low profile and also work with tonneau covers. Those should be short enough where the RTT doesn't sit above the cab so you can run the RTT and kayaks. However, as @Hextall mentioned you would need to remove the kayaks before setting up the tent.

I've thought about similar needs with a SUP, roof rack and RTT.

Another option would be the iKamper X-cover, and mount your kayaks to that - it has its own crossbars that can support up to 65lbs.
Or as mentioned earlier - very low profile like KBVoodoo Hi Rise crossbars with a normal RTT, and your kayaks on the prinsu.

Gen 2 here without prinsu (I use a Thule set up) but I used KB hi Rise and more than enough room for a Kayak to clear. I just upgraded to a KBV mid length and still should have room for clearance.
