Hey guys, I'm thinking about going for a poor man's trophy runner build one day although it seems a bit expensive I want save up for a runner kit and just lift my truck on the cheap for the moment. Don't really mind about getting worse mileage, I already got used to my 15 mpgs. Any cheap kits around there, and what size tires can I run without rubbing too bad (I got some 1/2" spacers about to get cut out soon) and last question is it worth it lifting a 2wd?

    4 run, 2 don't
A prerunner is still a very capable truck, but depending on how you use it, it may or not be worth lifting.

As for spacers, I wouldn't bother at all with them.

^^ This. I spent a bunch of money on .75" and 1.25" spacers to run some wheels that rubbed the calipers. Note the lug length is different between front and rear on my Prerunner. Keep that in mind when dealing with spacers. The first set of wheels I bought were a bad decision. Once I got rid of the wheels and got the Methods, I ditched the spacers. The wider stance helped it on corners. Though it seemed to wander on straight roads. I was glad to see them go.

A Prerunner is lighter on the front than a 4WD and handles differently. You can still get a nice look though.

I came to a realization that I would enjoy the Prerunner more if I try to keep it light and agile with good handling and a slight lift.

With me in it, it only weighs around 3.400 LBS. Be sure you strike a balance between the vehicle's curb weight, the tires, and suspension lift.

I'm running OME 880s with Blistein 5100s. I'll be looking to add 1.5" lift to the rear and that will be it for lifting.
