So, I'm looking at upgrading speakers, and to really make that worth it, I need to add an amplifier. Has anyone squeezed an amp into some unused space (perhaps behind the dash?) on a regular cab?

I don't want to lose any of my precious cargo space.

I’ve got a 2nd Gen, but I’ve got a Rockford Fosgate Prime in my truck, along with a Kicker Hideaway 8” powered subwoofer.

That's a nice clean install. If I do a subwoofer at some point, it'll go under the passenger seat.

How are you powering the front speakers?

Modern amplifiers are tiny, I have my sub amp temporarily installed behind the back seat of my single cab, along with a single 12 inch sub.

Amps like the Alpine Power Pack and Kicker Key are awesome options that will fit in the dash, over the glove box.

I have a 4 channel Alpine in my other truck and it's been flawless. I'll have a look at the power packs. Thanks!

Install is a breeze. See some of the Kicker Key threads (process will be the same)

There's a nice little spot between the glove box and the hvac controls. Got it bolted to steel at the bottom and one zip tie at the top. Feels nice and solid. And I can get at the controls by pulling the surround, which shouldn't be often.

Did you lose leg room with a 12" sub back there?

Heard about micro amps yesterday and have the Key installed today.
    Talk about motivation!

Lol. Well, the motivation is that I might be interviewing for a job next week, and then probably spending lots of time in the truck over the next couple months if all goes well.

So I really just needed something to distract me :D

Yep. My ears agree. Rage Against the Machine is now properly brain melting.

And I can hear which mp3s on my phone are the shitty ones.

Thanks for the recommendation! Now if I can get the dash together without blowing up the airbag....

yeah airbags are scary. i was in the shop a while back working in a car, and the other installer was doing a remote start in a car, tagging wires in the steering column and set off the airbag and it broke his collar bone. a few inches over snd it would've got his head or neck and probably killed him. If i get worried about an airbag, the battery gets disconnected for 30 minutes before i continue. i've run late for plenty of appointments but i dont care.

I went under the seats for my stuff. I did the kicker hideaway subwoofer under the drivers seat and a kenwood 4 channel amp under the passenger. Well out of the way and can’t see them unless you were under the seat looking for them.
