Yeah, no. That doesn’t work. That was actually the initial plan, but each time I moved the bowl closer to my house, he would mow his lawn right up to the bowl. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as far as lawn maintenance goes, but I can see this causing confusion later on.

 

Yep, you need to establish and maintain boundaries yet let him know he's welcome to come over when invited.

That’s how I met the neighbors. Tempted them with beers. Im glad they are always over..... but now I just tell my wife “sorry can’t help you right now the neighbors are here!” The neighbors are skilled in everything from driveways, plumbing,floors, electrical, cars ...anything. My wife doesn’t mind them ever showing up because shit gets done!

Vietnam vet? Punji pit... he gets wounded, you pull him out and cautiously nurse him back to health. Maybe make one crutch out of an old ladder. He learns you’re resourceful and nice. Maybe watch a couple old rom coms together as he heals. He gradually gets better and one day you come down in the morning and find him making you breakfast to return your kindness. You laugh together over coffee. Then right when he gets comfortable, you explain to him that you saved his life. He is now in service to you until he saves your life in return. You become more daring and engage in risky behavior. Soon he is able to return the favor and now you can truly be best friends.

Anything of value is being sold asap to help offset the cost of my upgrades. No point in keeping minor things like bulbs, but hardware goes in my spares bins. Anything else, trash. I have too many hobbies to clutter my garage with useless stuff.
